In winter, Gaiastova is known for its tasty "Skiers" lunch and après-ski. From the restaurant at the top of Hafjell, guests have a fantastic view of Gudbrandsdalen. Gaiastova is the perfect starting point for cross-country skiing, and is located right next to the alpine slope. Near Gaiastova you will find Ilsetra and Pellestova.

LUNCH
Gaiastova is known for its Skiers Lunsj - tasty and filling lunch dishes for active skiers and skiers. From our restaurant you have a fantastic panoramic view of the mountains.

TAPAS
Gaia Tapas can be found in a separate corner by Peisestuen. Here you will meet the head waiter and there is table service in an informal environment. Characterized by rusticity and elegance, as a place in the mountains should be. Our intention is to create a restaurant at Hafjell where guests will be able to relax, enjoy a good meal, in cozy surroundings after a long day out in nature or a hectic day at work.

Gaiastova was built for the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in 1994. During the Games, Gaiastova was the residence of the press and media, a total of 2000 people from all over the world were accommodated in the Hafjell peak's 225 cabins and 120 apartments. Gaiastova functioned as a service center where approx. 2000 people took their meals daily.

The name Gaia comes from Greek mythology and means "mother earth" or "mother of all life on earth". Why such a name for a tourism company in the Norwegian mountains? It has to do with our first owner, the company World City A/S by Knut V. Kloster, who is the initiator of the fund "Gaiaship Foundation" with the motto "Action for Global Solidarity". The name Gaia was also used on a replica of a Viking ship that was built in connection with the Environmental Conference in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

Gaiastova is located at the start of Øyerfjellet and here you can access the ski slopes in the entire Lillehammer region. Today, Gaiastova contains a restaurant, après-ski, ski rental and grocery.
