Galdhøpiggen Summer Ski Center is located 1,850 meters above sea level—at the foot of Northern Europe’s highest mountain, Galdhøpiggen. The ski center is one of the few in Norway situated on a glacier.
Galdhøpiggen Summer Ski Center, often called “Juvass,” is a modern ski facility with all amenities, and is suitable for alpine skiing, telemark, and snowboarding. Here you and your family can enjoy the combination of sun, skiing, and slushy summer conditions—at the ski center located at the highest elevation in all of Scandinavia.
The facility has a T-bar lift and a 1,400-meter-long run. This is Norway’s longest glacier ski lift! Opening hours are usually from mid-May to November, when the large winter ski resorts open. Some years, Galdhøpiggen Summer Ski Center keeps the facility closed in mid-summer if the blue ice melts through.
The ski center is one of the few in Norway located on a glacier. The ski lift is drilled down into glacier ice that is constantly moving toward Juvvatnet, and the crystal-clear green water that stands in strong contrast to the permafrost landscape.
Training arena and play park:
The ski center is a popular training venue for alpine teams from all over the world. During the summer holiday, most of the runs are generally open to the public, and a summer park with various jumps is built.
Here you can rent equipment such as skis, a helmet, and poles at a good price.
Have a “Juvass bun”!
If you get tired between runs, you can take a break in the café with 120 seats and hot and cold food and drinks. In addition, you’ll find the best buns you can get 1,000 meters above sea level. The altitude means this bun rises much better than usual.
