What is Gamleposten 5444?

Gamleposten 5444 on Espevær is a unique dining destination where local flavours, coastal history, and authentic storytelling come together. Rooted in local traditions, heritage, and fresh regional ingredients, the vision behind Gamleposten is to create genuine food experiences and memorable moments.

Siblings Silje, Rollaug, and Torstein grew up on the island of Espevær and have always shared a strong connection to their home community. In autumn 2015, they founded Gamleposten 5444 and purchased the historic property in Garden later that same year.

At Gamleposten 5444, every experience and menu is carefully tailored together with you.

Advance booking is required.

Opening hours

Gamleposten is primarily open during Easter and throughout the summer season.

Outside the main season, the venue is open for groups by advance reservation.

Transport to and from Espevær

The boat Venemøy is available for late departures from Espevær after the regular passenger boat schedule upon request, and can also travel to alternative ports of call.

For guests requiring transportation, Venemøy operates nightly departures in July at approximately 11:00 PM (except during week 29).

Groups needing transport to Espevær can contact M/S Venemøy via Kystoppleving for arrangements and further information.
