Glacier hiking in the Narvik mountains

We take you from the center of Narvik on a beautiful drive along the Skjomenfjord and up into the mountains close to the Swedish border. From here we have access to the large glacier at the highest mountain in the area: Storsteinsfjellet. The hike up to the glacier takes us through a spectacular mountain landscape, where you can eventually see the glacier and the top of Storsteinsfjellet. At the foot of the glacier, we put on crampons, ice axes and ropes before entering the ice and snow on the glacier. From here, we will explore the magical blue and white world of the glacier at a pace and a way that suits the weather and the group. On the drive back to Narvik, we make a short stop by the fjord so you can take a refreshing dip in the seawater.

We can also take you to a glacier that is visible from the center of Narvik, on the mountain Sovende Dronning. Which option we choose depends on the weather, the group and current ice/snow conditions.

The price includes a local guide with the necessary skills to provide you with a safe experience. We will also provide the specialized equipment you need to walk on a glacier (crampons, an ice axe, a climbing harness, a climbing helmet and a rope) and transportation to the start of the trip and back to Narvik.

Essentials:

• Clothing that is suitable for being in the mountains in the summer (this should include rainproof outerwear and possibly some insulated layers).

• Gloves and hat.

• Long trousers.

• Mountain boots with a stiff sole and ankle support (this is necessary when using crampons).

• A backpack (minimum 25-30 liters) with space for clothes and equipment.

• Sunglasses and sunscreen.

• Food and drink.
