Experience the Viking village in Gudvangen, a fjord cruise on the Nærøyfjord and the spectacular train ride with Flåmsbana on this guided round trip from Bergen.
The tour starts by minibus outside the Tourist Information in Bergen, before heading east, where our first sightseeing stop will be at the magnificent waterfall, Tvindefossen. Before this, we stop at Dale village where you can get some coffee or snacks, as well as toilet break.
Further on, we arrive at Gudvangen, the home of the famous viking village in Njardarheimr. Here you can choose to have lunch at the Viking Village. In Viking Valley, you will meet the inhabitants of the Viking town of Njardarheimr, which will take you 1000 years back in time. In Njardarheimr, you get to take an active part in a community of people who are passionate about telling the story of the Vikings, their journeys, boats and how the Viking Age has left its mark on our modern society. Here you can freely wander around and experience the various buildings and activities in the Viking town and learn more about building practices, religion, food and crafts. Hear stories about the Vikings, understand who they were and where they came from. Experience what it was like to be a Viking. We can promise an experience that will stick in your memory. Here you can experience the Viking community of Njardarheimr, the Vikings' journeys, their boats and understand how the Viking Age has left its deep mark on our history.
Before you arrive at the village, the driver will give you all the information you need for the rest of the tour. This is because the tour is self-guided from Gudvangen to Bergen. After the tour you will take the electric cruise through Nærøyfjorden and arrive in Flåm. From Flåm you will take the famous Flåm railway to Bergen. The train runs from the end of Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord, up to the high mountains at Myrdal station. The journey features the finest aspects of the stunning scenery of Western Norway. Over the course of one hour, the train takes you from sea level at the Sognefjord in Flåm to the Myrdal mountain station, situated at 867 metres above sea level. Myrdal is also a station on the Bergen Line, meaning the Flåm Railway connects with trains running between Bergen and Oslo. The Flåm Railway is one of the steepest standard gauge railway lines in the world, with 80% of the journey running on a gradient of 5.5%. The train runs through spectacular scenery, alongside the Rallar Road, vertiginous mountainsides, foaming waterfalls, through 20 tunnels, and offers so many viewpoints that, for many people, a single trip up and down is not enough. The beautiful train ride will take approx. 3 '/2 hours. The first train (R45Myrdal) takes 55 minutes. Then you will make a change of trains in Myrdal, which is the end stop of the train leaving from Flåm. The next train goes directly from Myrdal to Bergen train station.
