Experience Hellviksbolten – an interesting mountain adventure in Hellvik, Egersund.
Hellviksbolten is an impressive boulder wedged between two rock faces – a small, miniature version of Kjeragbolten. Although it is not as high or dramatic, it gives you a little adrenaline rush when you stand on it – perfect for those who want to experience nature with views and excitement without having to go on a long mountain hike.
Starting point at Lunhulen
The trip to Hellviksbolten starts at Lunhulen in Hellvik. The entire route is on a good path, and the terrain is slightly hilly, rocky and reminiscent of high mountain areas. Even those who are used to traditional high mountain hikes will be pleasantly surprised – here you get the feeling of being in the mountains without having to climb to high altitudes.
Hellviksbolten – views and adrenaline
After about 2.8 km, you will reach Hellviksbolten. The terrain opens up, and you get a great view as you stand in front of the exciting boulder – a perfect place for photos and a little adrenaline rush.
For those with a fear of heights, the air beneath your feet can provide just enough of a challenge. In windy conditions, you should tread carefully, as sudden gusts can take you by surprise. Take it easy and keep your balance for a safe experience.
Enjoy a break with a view
Even in brisk winds, Hellviksbolten is a great place for a coffee break. Many hikers stop here, and there is a good chance of meeting others who are just as enthusiastic – and perhaps getting help to take a memorable photo.
Option for a longer hike
From Hellviksbolten, you can easily continue your hike towards Vestlandske Hovedvei, or return to the starting point for a shorter loop.
