Hoddevik at Stad: One of Norway's finest surf beaches with white sand and dramatic mountains. Open year-round. Starting point for the Mosekleivhornet hike.

Hoddevik is one of the most spectacular beaches in Western Norway – and one of the best surf spots in the country. Located at the outer edge of the Stad peninsula, this white sandy beach is surrounded by steep mountains and the open ocean, attracting surfers from around the world all year round.

In Hoddevik, you can walk barefoot on soft white sand while powerful Atlantic waves roll ashore. The high mountains surrounding the bay help shelter the beach from the strongest winds, creating stable and excellent surfing conditions – even in challenging weather.

Surfing here is far from palm trees and tropical heat. Instead, you’ll experience dramatic Nordic landscapes, fresh sea air and Arctic light. The combination of wild waves, quiet mountains and untouched nature gives Hoddevik a truly unique character.

The journey to Hoddevik is an experience in itself. As you descend the famous hairpin bends, panoramic views of the beach and the open sea unfold before you. It’s one of the most photographed coastal views in the Nordfjord region.

Hoddevik offers more than waves. The area is also a great starting point for hiking and outdoor adventures. From the village, you can hike to Mosekleivhornet, which rewards you with stunning panoramic views over Stadlandet, the ocean and the iconic crescent-shaped beach below.
