The "Kallen" hike at Kalsnes, Selvåg
Selvåg is a public recreational area near Tregde, just outside Mandal. “Kallen” is a leaning cairn located in the area. There is an old tradition that seafarers must take off their hats and greet “Kallen” as they pass by.
There are several hiking trails and swimming spots throughout the area. Facilities include piers, tables, toilets, and barbecue areas. Some places have sandy beaches, while others offer excellent swimming directly from the smooth rock formations. Parking is available on site.
About 100 metres east of Selvåg lies Storestøl, which also features the Strømmen hiking trail, a barbecue area, toilets, and a great area for play, recreation, and swimming.
