Located by the beautiful park at Dømmesmoen.
In beautiful natural surroundings in Dømmesmoen Park in Grimstad, you will find the Norwegian Museum of Horticulture – the only museum of its kind in Norway.
The museum features a café serving its famous waffles and sveler (Norwegian pancakes), as well as three interesting exhibitions highlighting important aspects of the history of horticulture in Grimstad.
In the exhibition about the gardening school at Dømmesmoen, visitors get an insight into student life, the school’s teaching methods, and the impact the school had on the local horticulture industry. The exhibition “A Fairy Tale of Currants and Rhubarb” tells the story of the production of the well-known wines from Fuhr, while “In Jar, Glass, Tin and Bottle” offers a nostalgic look back at Grimstad’s large food preservation industry.
This summer we offer many experiences and activities for children at Dømmesmoen – and best of all, all activities are free for everyone!
