Exhibitions – Books with Many Thoughts From his home at Rossvoll in Ulvik, the poet and fruit farmer Hauge gained broad views and extensive knowledge through reading world literature. He wrote poems about everyday life and nature, and pondered many thoughts about life and literature in his diaries.

In the exhibitions, you can explore various aspects of Hauge's poetry and his unique life. You can see his extensive book collection and get to know the authors who inspired him. The exhibitions engage multiple senses with installations about poetry and literature that you can see, hear, and touch. In the poetry workshop, you can let yourself be inspired to write poems. Throughout the summer season, you can also watch the documentary film "The Word Master Hauge" by Randi Storaas.

In the new thematic exhibition about Jon Fosse, you can explore the diversity of the Nobel Prize-winning poet, author, and playwright from Strandebarm.

Groups can book guided tours of the exhibition, poetic writing courses, and film screenings, and have an extended encounter with Olav H. Hauge's life and works through our skilled facilitators.

For Children The Haugesenteret offers several activities for children and young people. The Cat Hunt is an activity for the little ones. Hauge's cat has hidden itself in several places in the exhibition. By following the cat's tracks, children find the cat in unexpected places and become acquainted with both the poet and the cat. The outdoor library at Tunheim has books for both children and adults. Here, children and adults can read outdoors and enjoy the view over the village. This is a collaboration with Gløgg 4H and Ulvik Turlag. The Letter Hunt takes the hunters on adventures around Ulvik. The trail has a series of posts with one letter each for the solution word, in addition to reading tips, hiking tips, and other content.

Experiences Haugesenteret offers a wide and exciting cultural program throughout the year. Here, you can experience everything from major concert events to intimate author meetings, poetry readings, academic lectures, and engaging conversations. There are also nice reading sessions, creative workshops, and varied performances for children.

Poetry Festival Every other year in September, Haugesenteret organizes the traditional Poetry Festival, where you can experience poetry and music in the poetry and apple village of Ulvik. The festival stands out by putting poetry at the center with Olav H. Hauge's poetry as a starting point. In addition to prominent Norwegian and Nordic poets, well-known and beloved songwriters also grace the festival.

Museum Shop Haugesenteret has a museum shop with a wide selection of books about and by Olav H. Hauge, contemporary poetry, and Norwegian literature for children and adults.
