Skjæker Triangle – the ultimate summer mountain adventure!
Discover Ogndalsfjella from cabin to cabin during the summer season. Start at Mokk Farm and head to our rental cabin Lågvassbua for your first overnight stay. Continue to Skjækerosstua for night two – and perhaps finish with a third overnight stay at Sætertjønnhytta (DNT cabin), just 600 metres from Norway’s Geographical Centre.
For the best experience, we recommend at least two overnight stays – giving you time to enjoy the mountains, peace and nature at its finest.
Steinkjer Municipal Forests offer free fishing with rod and trolling line in over 50 lakes in Steinkjer. If you wish to use nets, you’ll need to buy a fishing permit.
Ice Fishing at the Gateway to Blåfjella–Skjækerfjella National Park
Dreaming of a real winter adventure? We suggest a 3-day trip focused on ice fishing in Skjækra! We recommend two overnight stays in cabins equipped with ice augers – just bring your own fishing gear.
Skjækervatnet is a fantastic fishing lake, located right by our rental cabin Skjækerosstua. There are also many smaller lakes around Skjækerosstua and Lågvassbua where you can try your luck. And remember: Fishing is free on Steinkjer Municipal Forests’ property!
Winter-marked trails run from Krokbekken to Lågvassbua and partially marked trails continue to Skjækerosstua. We recommend skis for the best experience, but transport can be arranged at an extra cost.
