Sundsnibba, also known as Kjenuken or Høgenibba, is a short yet demanding hike set in the scenic surroundings of Oldedalen.

Sundsnibba is a challenging yet manageable hike in the beautiful Oldedalen in Stryn. From the summit at 1,111 meters above sea level, you get magnificent views both up the Oldedalen valley and down toward Olden and the fjord.

● Area: Oldedalen
● Type: Hiking
● Difficulty: Challenging
● Distance: 4.3 km
● Season: April – November

The hike starts from Sunde/Gjerde in Oldedalen. From Olden, follow County Road FV 5724 and turn left at the sign toward Gjerde, just before Gjerdenausta.

The trail to Sundsnibba begins midway between Gjerde and Sunde, where parking is available. The path first climbs up to Sundssætra through varied terrain. The ascent to the mountain pasture is relatively steep but pleasant to walk, and the trail is well marked.

From the pasture, the hike continues upward toward the summit at 1,111 meters above sea level, where a spectacular view awaits as a reward for your effort. From here, you can see up through the dramatic Oldedalen valley and down toward the village center of Olden and the Nordfjord – a panoramic view that makes every vertical meter worth it.

What should you bring?

● Good hiking shoes or mountain boots – suitable for the weather and conditions
● Food and drinks
● A windproof jacket – it can be cold and windy at the summit

Weather and trail conditions can change, so it is important to be considerate, use good judgment, and adapt the hike to your own abilities.
