Today’s Program – New in 2026

10:00–15:00 – Nature trail for the whole family (all ages)

11:00 – Maritime storytelling for young children (recommended age 3–7)

13:00 – Workshop: Learn to tie your own monkey’s fist knot! (recommended age 8+)

Children’s Maritime Workshop

Creativity flourishes in the workshop! Here, children can make crafts to take home, help decorate the museum’s large fishing net, and draw and color the ocean’s vibrant fish. The workshop is open all day.

Inside the Exhibitions

Even more fun awaits inside the museum. Children can try sailor tattoos, navigate like a captain in the Sail & Trade game, and learn sailor’s knots and signal flags. Don’t forget to bring the activity booklet and go on a treasure hunt through the museum!

And More…

On the pier just outside the museum, there is a bathing ladder for those who want to take a dip. In July, the bathing boat stops here several times a week. Be sure to visit the café for ice cream, soft drinks, and cakes!

For Adults

While the children explore, you can immerse yourself in Agder’s rich maritime history. The museum’s main exhibition takes you back to the age of sailing ships and explains why Agder was Norway’s most important maritime region in the 19th century. You will also find dedicated exhibitions about the war sailors of World War II and the transition from sail to steam.
