The childhood home of the artists Gustav and Emanuel Vigeland in Mandal.

Gustav Vigeland is the artist behind Vigeland Park in Oslo, which today is one of Norway’s most visited tourist attractions.

He was born in Mandal and lived here until he was around 15 years old. His childhood home is located in Støkkan, part of the older wooden houses in Mandal city center. The house is now preserved and stands as an example of a typical residential building in Mandal around the 1890s. The main building, the carpentry workshop, and the stable are part of the visitor center.

Visitors get a unique insight into the artist’s upbringing and life through guided tours.
