5-day cycling trip on the Namdal coast

5-day cycling tour where you can experience the route between Steinkjer and Leka. The tour starts in Steinkjer and ends in Rørvik. Daily cycling stages of around 40 kilometers, and you ride without luggage, which the tour leader transports from place to place. A content-rich tour where you will, among other things, visit the fishing village of Sør-Gjæslingan and, most notably, Norway’s Geological National Monument, Leka.
As with all our cycling tours, you ride at your own pace. The tour leader transports your luggage and ensures you have a fantastic experience. The daily cycling stages are 40-50 kilometers, and we make many stops along the way. You'll enjoy lots of delicious local food, and we’ll take a 4-hour boat trip to the fishing village of Sør-Gjæslingan. In Namsos, we will also visit the Rock City exhibition and experience Åge Aleksandersen’s Verdensrommet.
The tour departs from Steinkjer every Monday from June 16th to August 11th.
Here are some highlights of the tour. You can read the full itinerary at https://kystriksveien.no/sykkelferie_namdal/.
Day 1: Steinkjer - Namsos (43 km)
We recommend starting from Lensmannsgården, where we’ll have lunch. You can take a bus from Steinkjer to Lensmannsgården, shortening the stage to 41 km. We’ll stay overnight at the Rock City Scandic Hotel.
Day 2: Namsos - Jøa (32 km)
After getting better acquainted with Trønder rock music, we’ll take a boat from Namsos to Jøa. Here, we’ll cycle around and explore this exciting island, including a walk up Jøa Trappa. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a nice dinner at Bedehuset Bistro and Bar. We’ll spend the night at the charming Segelsund.
Day 3: Jøa - Rørvik (54 km)
We’ll visit the childhood home of Olav Duun and take a boat to Abelvær. From there, we’ll cycle to Rørvik, where we’ll check in at Kysthotellet Rørvik for a two-night stay.
Day 4: Day trip to Leka (30 km)
We’ll travel by private boat from Rørvik to the island of Leka. Here, we’ll experience Norway’s Geological National Monument, and during our cycling tour around the island, we’ll understand why—it’s like cycling through the Earth’s interior.
Day 5: Visit to the fishing village of Sør-Gjæslingan
We’ll join a 4-hour boat trip, starting with a visit to a fish farm where we’ll get up close with salmon and learn more about this important industry. The journey continues to the abandoned fishing village of Sør-Gjæslingan, where a local guide will welcome us, and lunch will be served. We’ll return to the Coastal Museum Norveg around 2:30 PM.
