6 days dogsledding expedition to Svalbard's East Coast - an experience for life and a special way of travelling the Arctic!

On this tour you will learn and experience what Svalbard really can offer in terms of experiences off the beaten track.
Tommy Jordbrudal from Arctic Husky Travellers will ensure that this long trip will be a memory for life. Tommy has over 20 years experience with dog sledding expeditions in the Arctic. He has run the longest dog sled races in Alaska and Europe and travelled several times to the North Pole by dog sled. On this trip you will, in addition to unforgettable experiences, also learn the skills of dog sledding and winter outdoor activities under demanding conditions.

You need no previous experience from dog sledding to attend, but you should be in average to good physical condition. Weather in the Arctic is unpredictable and can change within a few hours. With both cold and wind the temperatures can quickly drop to -15 ° C also in May, but normally the first week of May in Svalbard is the best time for pleasant winter travelling and camping with 24 hrs daylight, still good snow conditions and often nice sunny weather.

Lodging in expedition tents and wilderness cabin day 1 to 6, on day 0 and day 6 accomodation in Longyearbyen.

Daily schedule:

Day 0. Arrival Longyearbyen. Visit the kennel. Review of the trip plan, equipment and procedures. We will pick you up at your accomodation in town at 18:00 and return you to town a couple of hours later.

Day 1 we will visit our ice cave on the Scott Turner glacier on our way to our wilderness cabin Reinheim. Here we will spend the evening getting used to life in the wilderness and the daily routines with the dogs while enjoying the facilities in our cabin with sauna and great views.

Day 2-5 Trip to the East Coast. Route adapted to the weather and snow conditions. We will sleep in tents and if we wish we can spend the last night in Reinheim on our way back.
