A taste of Svalbard A culinary experience with an Arctic twist! Take a guided walk through Longyearbyen, and try local specialities like Arctic Char and Svalbard Reindeer.
Your guide will lead you through Longyearbyen, with a focus on sightseeing and local tastings, as you gain an appreciation of how much Svalbard has to offer your palate prepared by our chefs.
We will walk a loop around the town, stopping for tastings at four very special locations where we will be served something delicious - with a generous helping of their stories and Svalbard experiences.
Experience the wildlife
Our walk will take us into all parts of Longyearbyen, including both the old and the new. Our route will be along roads, providing good footing for the stages between our tastings. We will also see many historical sites, and learn more about this amazing town and its inhabitants.
The mountains surrounding the town are home to many of Svalbard’s well known animals, including the Polar Fox, Ptarmigan and Reindeer, and we will look out for these during the walk. Of course, a focus will also be placed on our destinations, their history and the delights that await us when we arrive.
Experience the taste of Longyearbyen
The first stop will be Svalbard Brewery, opened in 2015 and already renowned for its Arctic location and delicious beverages. From there we will walk to the exceptional wine cellar at Huset for a taste of Arctic char, before heading for the casual ambience of the Coal Miners’ Bar & Grill for a charcoal-grilled burger.
No culinary adventure in Longyearbyen would be complete without a visit to the old alcohol store at Spitsbergen Hotel, where Svalbard reindeer will be on the menu, before we head to the end of our tour at Karlsberger Pub, where modern miners and Arctic explorers meet. Meeting point for the tour is at Radisson Blu Polar Hotel.
