Aaras farm - perfect for meeting or hosting av party - with it own minibakery - close to Oslo and Olavsgaard.
The Aaraas farm is a historic landmark in Nittedal municipality, with its earliest roots tracing back to the 10th century. Situated on a small height close to Hellerudsletta, the farm is a 15 minute drive from Oslo, and 20 minutes from Gardermoen airport. Lillestrøm is the closest city in the area.
Through the years, the farm has had a variety of livestock, including sheep, pigs and cows. Root vegetables and tobacco have been cultivated in the fields in earlier years. Today, the agriculture consists of corn, and the barn has a stable which houses six horses. The latest additions to the fauna are a number of hens, as well as two well behaving dogs. The current owners took over the farming in 2003, and the last couple of years, the farm has been substantially restored and renovated.
What used to be the cowshed has now been transformed into Tunstua. With its acoustic plates, proper ventilation and comfortable furniture, it provides a nice environment for our guests. Whether you want to arrange a meeting or host a party, Tunstua houses a maximum of 60 people. With the outdoor area comes also a gazebo with a fireplace and barbecue facilities. The venue has its own kitchen. In a building called "Bryggerhuset" (an 100 year old brewer house) we have a wood-fired oven which takes up to 24 breads at a time.
Meeting and event
We offer our guests packages including practical facilitation, food and activities upon request. A lot of our guests wish to celebrate baptism or birthday parties, confirmation and anniversaries. The facilities are also well suited for memorials.
Course and conference
Through the year, we host a number of annual meetings and professional seminars in the evenings, as well as courses and business meetings on the day. In conjunction with such events in Tunstua on weekdays, we offer homemade coffee snack, hot or cold dishes for lunch, fruit plates and other things our guests might request. We cooperate with local companies when extra food delivery is requested.
Accommodation
We have a tastefully decorated apartment with 5-6 beds for rent in the southern part of "Bryggerhuset" (from June 2017). The middle section of the house has a small pilgrim hostel with 5 beds. This is a reasonable accommodation for pilgrims walking the route fro Oslo to Trondheim, or parts of this route. Since 2010, Nittedal municipality has a few kilometers of the pilgrim route. The road now crosses Nitelva on the Åros bridge, right next to Aaraas gård, and continues through Ramstadgrenda to Brånåsen in Skedsmo municipality.
Olavsgaard hotel is situated not far from Aaraas gård. Our guests receive a discount when they stay at Olavsgaard hotel. The hotel is modern, has a nice location, and is a hub for public transport in the area.
Accessing Aaraas gård
From Olavsgaard hotel, walking to Aaraas gård takes around 20 minutes. Using public transport from Oslo, the fastest alternative is E6 (express bus) with bus change on Olavsgaard and a new bus to Hellerudsletta. It is also possible to take a bus from Oslo over Gjelleråsen and directly to Hellerudsletta. The Airport Express (v/Majorstua) stops at Olavsgaard as well as Hellerudsletta on its way to/from Oslo Airport.
