Aass Bryggeri - Gildehallen

Gildehallen is the nearest neighbour to Aass Brewery and our centre for beer enthusiasts and joy. The house is undoubtedly one of Drammen's most visited establishments – and always in pleasure!
Aass Brewery has proudly owned Gildehallen since 1964, but the house's history goes back long before that. The house was built in the early 1890s by the well-known timber baron Svend Haug, who also created the magnificent Villa Fridheim by Lake Krøderen. Gildehallen was ready for occupancy for his son's wedding in 1892 and began its remarkable history as the home of the Haug family.

Gildehallen's Background:
During World War I, the Gran family took over the house, and the Werner family entered the picture in 1926. The Werner family owned the property until 1964, when Aass Brewery bought it and converted the private house into a guild hall. The brewery's sales and advertising department moved in on the second floor, and there was space for offices, an advertising workshop, and a company doctor. The marketing department stayed in the house for 25 years and felt very nostalgic when the new and splendid office building at Aass Brewery was completed and ready for occupancy in 1989. It was sad to leave the pleasant atmosphere of Gildehallen.

For the brewery's 150th anniversary in 1984, initialies a comprehensive upgrade of Gildehallen.  Aass Brewery could proudly welcome thousands of guests to the new, magnificent Gildehallen. 

Over the past 30 years, beer schools, parties, anniversaries, and social and formal gatherings have had significant activity here. Gildehallen, with its rich history and warm atmosphere, is and remains our centre for good beer culture.
