Join us on a snowmobile journey through the wilderness to the Russian settlement of Barentsburg. This town has the second largest population on Svalbard, a coal mining community of around 500 people.
Our snowmobiles have a industry leading fuel economy and are therefore one of the most environmentally friendly snowmobiles on the market.

Kl. 7:00 – 10:00: Breakfast at Svalbard Hotell
Kl. 9:30: Snow mobile safari to the Russian settlement Barentsburg, ready to have a night there. The first day we’ll start with transport from the hotel, and down to our premises by the shore. Here you’ll receive all you need from warm clothing, safety equipment and information before driving into the wilderness. We’ll drive through the valley, and there will be many stopping point to take pictures and enjoy the views. Before we get to Barentsburg we’ll pass Grønnfjorden and the Grønnfjord glaciers in the background. Barentsburg is the second biggest settlement on Svalbard, and has about 450 residents living there all year around. The Russians bought Barentsburg from the Netherlands i the 1930’s. Today, Barentsburg is the only remaining settlement on Svalbard. The people living there is mainly from Russia and Ukraine. Barentsburg is mainly an «Company Town», and primarily focus’ on mining and tourism. Barentsburg has an historical Atmosphere, with a statue of Lenin on the top of a hill watching over his people. Barentsburg has their own hospital, museum, hotel, school, kindergarten and gym. In the earlier days they even got their own greenhouse and barn with pigs.
After breakfast we’ll use the early hours to look around town, visit the museum, souvenir store, the craftcenter or even just look around on the impressing buildings. The guide will take you around and answer your questions you may have. After lunch, we’ll prepare to og back to Longyearbyen. We’ll follow the coastline to Colesvalley, before moving further in to the mountains closer to Longyearbyen. Well have our last stop on the top of the Longyear glacier, before we drive the last bit down to Longyearbyen. We recommend all our guests to drive their own snow mobile, since it’s much easier to drive without an passenger. All our winter activities is weather permitting, and needs a minimum of 2 participants on two snow mobiles.
We’ll be back in Longyearbyen in the afternoon, where you’ll check- in at Svalbard Hotell.
