Start by the swimming spot at Stampesletta (just above Birkebeineren Hotel). Cross Finna bridge and continue along the old track from around 1900. Follow way-marking (T) and signs for Mesna Kultursti.
The trail climbs some 200 metres in altitude along waterfalls and rapids, and leads across a spectacular stone bridge, Collets bru, name after the painter Fredrik Collet. Mesna cultural trail comes to an end on the northern side of the Mesna river, above Svarga (home of the clairvoyant Marcello Haugen).
Pick up the trail on the other side, and continue uphill until it levels out and becomes a track. Turn left towards Kanalen. After Kanalen (Mesna power station), when you reach the road, continue along the trail towards Kanthaugen/Hoppbakken. The trail becomes a dirt road for the final stretch before you turn left down to the top of the ski jump (past Telemarkstunet and Kanten Kro). Enjoy the spectacular views of the town and Mjøsa.
Either walk the 936 stairs down and follow the road back, or turn right by the top of the chairlift and follow the dirt road. When you reach a way-marked (T) trail on the right, follow this down to Håkons Hall and then head back to the starting point.
