Unique glacier walk in combination with fjord safari to Nordenskiold glacier situated 80 km away from Longyearbyen. Learn how to walk on glacicers and explore the landscape in blue and white, accompanied by an experienced guide.
On this long daytrip you will be cast far away from Longyearbyen right in the hearth of the arctic land.
The day starts early at 08:00, where you meet with your guide and go shortly through today’s schedule and activities. You are given flotation suits before heading to the harbor. We cross Adventfjorden and continue all the way to Billefjorden and Adolfbuta with our open RIB boat. There is plenty of wildlife around the fjord at this time of the year, so we have chances to see some arctic birds, walruses, belugas or even the polar bear. After arriving to the shore of Adolfbukta, you enjoy expedition lunch right in front of the magnificent Nordenskiöld glacier. We will go through instructions for glacier walking and the safety issues. After lunch, we gather all necessary equipment and head out to the close-by glacier. We will explore the glacier, learn how to use our equipment and enjoy the magnificent ice around us. After the adventurous trip on the glacier we will head back to the shoreline, enjoy warm expedition meal. Luckily we have midnight sun and the sun never sets. We expect to arrive back in Longyearbyen in the evening.
