Arquebus War History Museum - Haugalandmuseet

Welcome to one of the largest war museums in Norway! The museum has many and varied exhibitions that presents the occupation of Norway in 1940-1945.

What can I see and experience at the Arquebus War History Museum?

The many exhibitions tell about the acts of war in Northern Rogaland and Sunnhordland, the merchant fleet's role in the war, the home front and daily life during the war years. With more than 6,000 objects on display and 2,000 m2 of exhibition space, Arquebus is Norway's largest war history museum outside Oslo.


Why is the museum called Arquebus?

The museum is named after Sverre K. Andersen, who ran illegal radio operations during the Second World War, under the cover name Arquebus. The original radio transmitter of the "Arquebus" is on display at the museum.


What other offers does the museum have?

In the shop you can buy military effects and the museum has a simple cafe selling coffee and ice cream. Free car park with plenty of space for visitors.
