Hike to Bøttejuvet in Årdal with a gallery view to Hurrungane
Bøttejuvet (1322 m) in Årdal
Hiking description:
Drive to Årdalstangen and further onto Seimdalsvegen, and through the tunnel to Seim. Then up Seimsdalen and parking at Strupesvingen.
At Strupesvingen there is a sign pointing towards Bøttejuvet, and follow the tractor road into the narrow valley. After a kilometer, the path turns steeply upwards into dense and fine coniferous forest to the Skår mountain farm 840 m.
From Skår the path continues upwards in a northeasterly direction into fine birch forest, and soon you are above the tree line. After a while the path turns in an easterly direction, and soon you are up to a large cairn that marks the path junction between Bøttejuv and Skårsfjellet. The path to Bøttejuv goes gently upwards in an easterly direction. Once you reach Bøttejuvet, you will have a magnificent and dizzying panoramic view with over 1200 meters of altitude straight down to Årdalsvatnet and Øvre Årdal, and to the peaks at Tyin.
