The extensive mining operations that has taken place since the 1670s in the community of Ballangen, are something you can learn about at the museum. Based on object, photos and text you can learn how the mining operation was carried through.
The most comprehensive business was at Bjørkaasen Gruber AS, after an exploration period, the foundation of the mining company took place in 1913.
The operation lasted until 1964. During the construction period about 450 people were employed. The mining production was mainly copper, pyrite and zinc.
