Ballastbrygga industrihistoriske senter Mandal

At Ballastbrygga industrial history center we tell Mandal's industrial history through exhibitions and activities.

The center at Ballastbrygga in Mandal is a collaboration between Lindesnes municipality, Mandals Trebåt ogMotorforening, Marna Motor AS and Mandal museum.

Mandal has an exciting and complex industrial history. In the post-war years, Mandal was for a long time among Norway's largest industrial towns in relation to population. In the 18th century, the town had the country's longest ropeway and one of Norway's first modern tanneries. In the 19th century, Norway's first oil refinery and Norway's second canning factory were established here.

Some of the city's businesses were short-lived, others are today among the very oldest in Norway. At Ballastbryggaindustrial history center we tell stories about many of these businesses.
