Beaches and outdoor bathing places in the Gjøvik region
GJØVIK
Fastland open Air
This open air pool is the town’s favourite. Here you will find a diving tower, paddling pool, beach volleyball pitch, barbecues, playground, fast food restaurant, great parking facilities and a skateboard ramp.
The park is free, open to everybody and located in the centre of Gjøvik.
There are also many fine beaches along the shores of lake Mjøsa that are suitable for bathing, e.g. Rambekkvika, Bråstadvika, Fredvika near Gjøvik.
Sveastranda Camping north of Gjøvik boasts a great playground, a small shop and a great bathing cove suitable for children.
Other good bathing places include Kremmerodden and Skumsrudvollene in Biri, as well as Strandengen and Stranda Camping at Biristrand.
3 km north of Gjøvik is Glomstadbukta naturist beach, which has a marina, barbecue area and petanque.
In addition, there are numerous small ponds and tarns suitable for bathing. We recommend Skumsjøen at Vardalsåsen. Here you will find Osbakken Cafe. Glæstadtjernet in Åslendet and Abbortjern in Snertingdal are also great for a refreshing dip on a warm summer’s day.
SØNDRE LAND
There are several good bathing places around Randsfjorden. Kråkvika just west of Hov has a nice sandy beach and a large leisure area with a beach volleyball pitch.
Grimebakken and Homen Mølle are also great places for a dip in Randsfjorden
There is a green at the southern end of Trevatna, which is ideal for bathing. Further north is the idyllic Vassendlandet, which offers both bathing and excellent hiking terrain.
Skrankefossfløyta, located by the river Fallselva and Skrankefoss power station, has a large green with a jetty.
Brennodden near Saga by the Landåsvatnet lake has a bathing place and a fishing jetty.
VESTRE TOTEN
Sillongen, east of Raufoss, is a popular swimming area. The water is ideal for children and youths. There is a range of activities to choose from around the lake. The water temperature is always slightly above the average for the area.
Pay a visit to Holetjernet, which lies south of Bøverbru. Here you will find a bathing place with a beach volleyball pitch, changing rooms, barbecue area, a separate area for campfires, and good parking facilities.
Engenstranda on the Einavannet lake, located next to Engenstranda Camping, is a popular and attractive bathing place in the summer.
Totenbadet in Raufoss is the region’s fantastic indoor water paradise, which is open daily from 11:00 - 19:00 in the summer.

ØSTRE TOTEN
Visit one of the bathing places along lake Mjøsa’s 40 km long public shoreline.
We recommend Evjua Strandpark, where you will also find the restaurant Viken II. The area is accessible both by road and boat, as it has an excellent marina.
Panengenstranda has several barbecues that can be used for free, and some very good seating in the form of timber benches. If you fancy an ice cream or a snack, there is an inviting kiosk near the beach. The area has good wheelchair access. It is clean and has toilet facilities.
Other good bathing places around lake Mjøsa include Tallodden, Melkefabrikken and Hekshusstranda Camping, which also has a great play area and a kiosk. All these bathing places are located in Kapp.
