Leirfjord
Bergh wharf and the old schoolhouse in Leirfjord
Leirfjord Museum is situated in the old Bergh wharf building at Leland. You can also visit the handsome Old Schoolhouse that was in use until the mid-1950s. Welcome to a fascinating journey back in time!
The Bergh wharf building was a trading post as early as 1847. Tragically, the building repeatedly has been ravaged by fire, most recently in 1898. Today’s building dates from 1900.
Inside, it seems time has stood still. To wander the shelves is to travel back in time. Today the old wharf building is also used for various exhibitions on local culture and history. You can also see a selection of books, toys, kitchen utensils, rain gear and more.
The Old Schoolhouse
The handsome Old Schoolhouse in the middle of Leland is now a museum. With its beautiful carved decor and well-chosen colours, the schoolhouse is rather special both with regards to architecture and school history. The old schoolhouse was built in 1884 and was in use until the mid-1950s. In the 1970s, the building became a museum.
