Bessheim has been a dwelling place for mountain hikers since the late 1800s, when Kari Storvik first began to offer accommodations and food serving for mountain hikers at her mountain farm. She set up her first main building here in 1890. Since then the family business has been in constant development, from mountain farm to modern mountain lodge in Jotunheimen.

Accommodations:
We offer accommodations in rooms, apartments, cabins and on camping grounds. At Bessheim we offer up to 180 beds in total. The rooms have mountain cabin standards, with made beds, showers, and toilets. Standard and size varies between the cabins and apartments. Here you will find information on all of them. Booking is done by sending an email to post@bessheim.no
Norwegian, traditional food:
At Bessheim we serve norwegian, traditional food. We like to serve reindeermeat from Vågå Tamrein AS, deer and moose from local hunters, and mountain trout from the many good fishing waters in Jotunheimen. Every morning there is a breakfast buffet where guests can make their own lunch to bring along to the mountain hike.
During the day we serve dinner from the a la carte menu, and during the evening, from 18.30, we serve a three-course dinner. Please order this some time before.
We serve wine from the local wine importers Bertel & Martens, and the local brewed beer Høgruta from Lom bryggeri. We serve beer, wine, and liquor at Bessheim. Hubertus brewery at Dovre even made a beer for us called Besseggøl.
We serve meals for guests with allergies, but please let us know beforehand.
Hiking Besseggen:
Bessheim is a good starting point for hiking the famous ridgde, Besseggen, which is one of the most popular mountain hikes in Norway. Most people who hike Besseggen take the Gjendeboat to Memurubu and walk back. But you can just as well do it the other way around.
