Jølstraholmen is a great place to start to enjoy the many attractions and activities in Vassenden. You will start the trip by crossing the wild
and beautiful river, Jølstra. Trout fishing is great here, and if you are lucky, you will spot a rafting boat on its way down the river. If you take
a detour to the right, you will find a nine-hole golf course.
The small farm bakery in Vassenden, Erketunet, opens on Fridays and Saturdays, and you can buy delicious bakery products here.
The southern side of the Jølstravatnet lake boasts spectacular scenery, and you are now cycling along one of Northern Europe’s best trout fishing waters. Astruptunet is beautifully located in the hills above the Jølstravatnet lake. Here stands the home of the painter, drawer, and graphic artist
Nikolai Astrup (1880 – 1928), one of Norway’s most famous national artists. The hillside farm cluster has a unique atmosphere, and the museum offers guided tours of the artist’s home.
You can visit Jølstra Museum on your way back to Vassenden. Take in the art adorning its walls or enjoy the freshly served Jølstra trout.
