The island paradise of Solund is ideal for cycling.
The island paradise of Solund is ideal for cycling. With starting point in Hardbakke, we recommend these cycle trips:
Hardbakke – Avløyp
From Hardbakke you cycle north along the idyllic Liasundet. You will pass the rural districts of Lia, Råke and Strand before you arrive at Avløyp. Here you can visit the ”sunset bench”, situated next to the road. Beautiful view over the Lågøy fjord. You can also take a rest in Lauvvika, where you will find a nice place to take a bath. The road is mainly flat and easy to bike.
Length: About 11 km one way. The trip takes about 1,5 hours both ways. There are no shops along this road, so remember to bring with you what you want of food and drink.
Distances:
Hardbakke – Daløy: 10 km.
Haldorsneset – Ytrøy: 3,6 km.
Haldorsneset – Nåra: 12 km.
Hardbakke – Ytre Solund
From Hardbakke you cycle west to Daløy, where you take the ferry to Haldorsneset. From Haldorsneset you can cycle north to Ytrøy, where Solundmat is located. Here you can buy fresh fish and shellfish, or perhaps a fenalår (mutton ham) from the wild sheep. On your trip back you can stop at Hjønnevåg, where there is a cafè in the summer. At Nåra there is a grocery shop. From the hills over Nåra you will get a good view west to the outer part of Solund, with the island Utvær furthest west.
From Hardbakke you can take the bus to Krakhella, and the express boat further to Askvoll, Rysjedalsvika, Mjømna or Bergen.
