A full day trip with bike over a mountain pass on an old trailroad. This is a classic biking trip in the fjord region, where we bike trough the municipality of Hellesylt, pass peaceful and scenic lakes, waterfalls and old mountain farms. The biking is technically easy as we follow an old mountain road from Hellesylt close to the Geirangerfjord to Oppstryn in Stryn. One way, this trip is around 40 km, and the highest point around 550 masl and takes around 3,5 hours before we turn back. This trip is nice to combine with a visit in Geiranger, as there is only a scenic ferry trip between Hellesylt and Geiranger.
We start at Vollset, near Hellesylt (alternatively we meet in Hellesylt). After we have gone through the equipment and see that we have everything we need, we start the bike ride up to Mt. Flofjellet.
This is ein nice ride through the cultural landscape and along lakes. It is a special feeling to roll forward on a gravel road surrounde by meadows, watch the snowy summits around you. This is the old road between Hellesylt and Stryn, so the road continues down to the village Flo and then further to Stryn.
We stop at the top of Mt. Flofjellet, and return to Vollset/Hellesylt.
Bring clothes to be out all day long, and remember that there may be rain and be cold, even if it's summer.
