Brandal
Bird and seal safari with Polarstar

Brandal – Runde with Polarstar 14 June 2023 To the bird island Runde on a bird and seal safari. Wednesday 14 June 2023 at 18.00
The trip goes with the polar-historic, arctic ocean ship "Polarstar", Norway's first seal-catching ship built in steel in 1948, to the famous bird island Runde, out towards the ocean. The island is a popular departure point all year round, but is especially interesting in summer due to the bustling birdlife. In season, there are between 500,000 and 700,000 seabirds on the island, most of which live on the bird rock.
Runde is one of many islands in the archipelago "Sørøyane" southwest of Ålesund. It is the southernmost bird mountain in Norway, and the largest bird island south of the Arctic Circle. The trip starts at Brandal at 18.00 Then we set course for Runde lighthouse and on around to the bird mountain.
On the return we go near the Grasøyane on a seal safari and maybe we'll be lucky and see seals on the trip. Back in Brandal at 10 p.m.
Included in the price is a sightseeing boat trip with the veteran schooner Polarstar, serving of fish soup bread, and coffee.
