Øra is a large delta wetland at the mouth of the longest river in Norway, Glomma, just outside the town Fredrikstad. It is a strategically positioned staging area for migrant waterbirds, and also a very important breeding area for several species, including Cormorant of the Continental subspecies sinensis, which invaded the area and started to breed here in 1997. The population here is now in excess of 1000 pairs. The colony is best seen from Marikova.
