Børgefjell is a vast mountainous wilderness, one of the most pristine in Scandinavia. It is protected as a national park and is considered to be among the most important areas in the country for owls, raptors and carnivorous mammals. Few people visit, especially in early summer, which gives you the feeling of having it all by yourself. You do run the risk, however, of encountering Sami reindeer shepherds on off-road motorcycles popping up in the middle of nowhere! This, perhaps, only adds to the exotic experience.
