Eigerøy lighthouse is situated on the outer coast, strategically positioned for observing migration on both land and sea at the southwestern corner of Norway. The terrain out here is rocky and rather barren but there is a small coniferous forest by the lighthouse, attracting passerines during migration, particularly on overcast days. A bird observatory is located here, ringing and counting the migrants.
