  •  /  km From You
Overview

The mountains between Gausdal and Valdres is called Huldreheimen, or “the home of Huldra”, Huldra being a beautiful and seductive female forest creature from Norwegian folklore. The area is a remote wilderness dominated by marshes flanked by pine and birch woods, and with a rich bird life. The only traces of human activity is a limited degree of traditional dairy farming. A nice and easily accessible wetland in this area is Langtjedn lake, with breeding Slavonian Grebe and more.
