Fjord Norway Rogaland KARMØY

Birdwatching Karmøy (Beiningen)

  •  /  km From You

Karmøy is a 30 km long island on the outer coast, separated from the mainland with narrow sounds to the north and east. However, it appears like a peninsula sticking out into the Boknafjord, concentrating birds which follow the coast towards the south. The terrain on Karmøy is predominantly rocky heathland with scattered marshes and grazing pastures, as is typical of the outer coast in this region. Beiningen is an area of farmland on the southern tip of Karmøy, and can be a good place to look for resting migrants in late spring and autumn.
