Nekmyrene is one of the few remaining breeding sites for Broadbilled Sandpiper and Ruff in Southern Norway. This wetland is situated above the tree line, just north of Hedmark’s most prominent rock formations, Sølen. Human activities must be conducted with care at this important breeding site. However, the Broad-billed Sandpipers, in particular, are not very shy of people and tend to stay out in the softest and most inaccessible black bogs.
