The valley is home to Capercaillie and many other species of the forest, including Osprey and several other raptors. Little Ringed Plover breed a few places along Otra river. High up in the valley, near the ski resort of Hovden is the bird-rich wetland Vidmyr located, at an elevation of 850 m.
