Norways largest continuous old-growth forest, Trillemarka, is located just one and a half hours drive from Oslo. The forest is dominated by spruce, with elements of pine, some of which are massive. In some areas the conifer forest is intermixed with deciduous trees. The result is one of the best places for forest birds in this part of the country, Capercaillie and Three-toed Woodpecker included.
