The delta where the river Tufsinga meets Lake Femunden creates a 3 km2 marshy area surrounded by low, pine-covered hills. This is one of the most bird-rich areas in this part of the country. It holds many breeding birds as well as beeing an important stop-over site for migrants. This delta is a so called birds-foot delta, where the river extends like a levee-bordered channel far out into the lake.
