Birkebeiner Ski stadium

Birkebeiner Skistadion is a complete cross-country ski and biathlon stadium, easily accessible at the top of Lillehammer. It was the Olympic arena for cross country skiing and biathlon, both in '94 and the Youth Olympics 2016.

Birkebeineren Skistadion is an ideal starting point for trips across the mountains, and is linked to a trail network on 450 km. The track network is available for trips during the summer and winter season. Where the 5 km long light slope is diligently used throughout the winter, and lights up at 22 every night.

One of the world’s best ski stadiums with fully modern cross-country and biathlon facilities. Both sporting and commercial events can be organized summer and winter. The Birkebeineren Ski Stadium served as the Olympic arena for cross-country and biathlon events in 1994. The stadium also served as arena for cross-country skiing and biathlon events during Paralympics in March 1994.

The Birkebeineren Ski Stadium is the perfect starting point for trips into the mountains, and the start of a 450km network of cross-country trails. The regularly prepped tracks are suitable for both adults and children. The 5-km long floodlit trail is popular throughout the winter, and is lit until 22.00hrs every evening. The facility also offers playground areas for young kids to have a blast on skis. Special ski and biathlon events can be organized in the floodlit trails or in the Olympic trails.

Cross country at Birkebeiner Skistadion, Lillehammer Norway

The Birkebeineren Ski Stadium is the ideal starting point for trips into the local mountains, and is connected to a 350-km long trail of cross-country tracks. The facility has an excellent area for young children to play on skis – a ski playground! Special cross-country and biathlon championships can be organized in either the Olympic tracks or the floodlit tracks.

Biathlon
The Birkebeineren Ski Stadium has a complete year-round biathlon facility. Here you can organize a “biathlon” championship with or without skis. The competition takes place on a limited area of the biathlon stadium, with teams, relay exchanges and even penalty rounds. Everyone is able to shoot 5 rounds at the Olympic targets, and the excitement is in the rapidly changing positions of the various teams. This is an activity unlike any other, and the biathlon championships have been a great success. The biathlon stadium has 30 targets and a professional sound system.

Skistua Kafe
Skistua Kafe is located at the Birkebeineren Ski Stadium between the cross-country and biathlon arenas. This charming café may be rented year-round for meals and parties for up to 50 persons. There are 2 changing rooms with showers in the basement. Skistua Kafe is open on the weekends during the winter, as well as for special events.

Birkebeineren Ski race (Rena - Lillehammer, 54 kilometres)
Birkebeinerrennet has been organized since 1932. Until 1991 start and finish was every second year in Lillehammer and Rena. The last years the start has been permanent in Rena and the Finish line in Birkebeineren Skistadion at Lillehammer. Birkebeinerrennet is 54 km , classic. The participants have to carry a back pack that weighs minimum 3,5 kg.

30 km or 15 km both in easy terrain. Refreshment stations along the course. Classic technique. Start 30 km: Mass start from Nordseter at 9.30am. 15 km: Wave start from Birkebeiner Ski Stadium, first wave at 11.00 am. Finish Birkebeiner Ski Stadium at both courses.

Summer
During the summer, the stadium and trails are popular for walks, jogging, terrain bicycling, ball sports, etc. The trails are well prepped and the top covering consists of earth and grass. An asphalted rollerski track can be used for training and competitions during the summer.
