Blue ice hike

From Folgefonna glacier you can see the Hardangerfjord below you, and far west you can get a glimpse of the North Sea.
From Folgefonna, you can gaze down at the Hardangerfjord and glimpse the North Sea far to the west. Folgefonna is a coastal glacier, encircled by the Hardangerfjord. Nothing feels more natural than travelling by sea as you make your way to the majestic landscapes of Folgefonna National Park.
Now you have the opportunity to experience the very best of the fjord villages, the Hardangerfjord, and Folgefonna.
In Jondal, a scenic 19-kilometre road takes you from the fjord up to the glacier. Here, a certified glacier guide is ready to take you on an unforgettable journey across the blue ice – on foot or on skis!
This guided glacier hike lasts 5 to 6 hours and is suitable for anyone over the age of 10 in reasonably good physical shape.
From June until early October (depending on snow conditions). Outside of this period, advance booking is required. The season ends on October 1st, when snow once again covers the ice.
