Blue Vision – Salmon viewing center

Here you can learn about salmon and how it’s produced. Aquaculture in Norway is constantly evolving and we tell through teaching programs, guiding, interactive screens and live images from our facilities how the industry works.

We are located on the 2nd floor on Kystens Hus in Tromsø centrum.
The center is open Monday-Friday from 10:00-16:00 and Saturday 11-15. We accept agreed visits outside the opening hours.
Free entrance.

The viewing center is divided into two zones, one of which consists of interactive screens with information, pictures, films and games for children. The second zone is a control room where we have live images from our facilities at sea.

You will get an insight into salmon production by learning about:

- The importance of the aquaculture industry for coastal communities
- Salmon life cycle
- Feed
- Challanges the industry facec and what solutions are used to combat the challanges i a sustainable way
- New technology
- Ripple effects created by the industry
- Necessary preparatory work to be able to conduct salmon farming

Visit us in Gratangen
If you want a closer look in salmon farming, you can visit our facilities in Gratangen. There you can get a guided tour at Astafjord Slakteri (slaughtery), Astafjord Smolt (hatchery) and our facilities at sea. Stop by Blue Vision in Tromsø or contact us via our website to arrange a trip to Gratangen.

Parking/public transport
There is parking right at the entrance to Kystens Hus and a large parking facility approx. 4 min walking distance. At the entrance to Kystens Hus there is a bus and taxi stop. Distance to speedboat and Hurtigruten quay is approx. 5 min walking distance.

Facilitation for the disabled
Our center is built so that wheelchair users can move around without problems. It is possible to take the elevator up to us and there is a disabled toilet nearby.
