The coastline from Breivig to Hillevågsvatnet lake in Stavanger is one large recreation area. Visitors will find a 2.8-kilometre long trail that is considered perhaps the finest in Stavanger – it passes bays and promontories, sheltered coves with sandy beaches, rock slopes and popular bathing areas. Good places for a pause or extended relaxation are Godalen, Rosenli and Vaisenhusstranda beach.
The sloping terrain above the Gandsfjord is varied, much of the shore scenery is dramatic, with lush vegetation. There are spots that are ideal for anglers to cast their fishing line – or you can just enjoy the panorama, from the Gandsfjord to the mountains above the Høgsfjord further inland.
Access: Walking distance from Stavanger city centre, or bus no. 4 to Rosenli.
