The Halden Canal is a popular area for boating, canoeing, kayaking, cycling and hiking. The canal company has 12 canoes for rent. Along the canal there are 18 shelters and campsites as well as several nice accommodation and restaurants. You can rent a canoe at Brekke and paddle the entire Halden Canal or just lock if you want. Canoe rental is valid mid-May and until the end of the autumn holidays. During the period, the rental will take place in the kiosk of Via Ferrata Haldenkanalen or you can contact Brekke KanoUtleie.
An exciting experience for young and old.
A good night's sleep in FløterhyttaIn Brekke Sluser, you can spend the night in Fløterhytta and Den Gamle Sluseassistenten. An older home and a cozy little cabin where you can follow the daily locks of small and large boats. When renting accommodation, it comes with two canoes that can be used freely. Close by you have access to a summer kiosk, swimming areas and hiking and cycling opportunities. With a canoe/kayak, you can experience sluicing both down and up the locks - a powerful experience! The area around the cabin has several hiking opportunities. In Strømsfoss you can spend the night in Fjøset. Don't be fooled by the name! The barn was admittedly previously used as an outbuilding for the stately lock master's residence at Strømsfoss locks, but the cabin is of a good standard. From the cabin you have a view of the locks and the lock environment that grew up around the operation of the facilities. There are also two shelters at Kanaltangen in the city centre, and one at Skjæra further south.
