The history of Bryggeloftet & Stuene dates back to 1910, when the restaurant was built at Bryggen 11 as part of a hospice on Bryggen Harbor. Since the beginning, the restaurant has always been run by the same family.
Bryggestuen restaurant on the ground floor, has always been a very popular place to visit with the locals, and with it’s prime location, the restaurant also attracts many travelers coming to Bergen. During the summer months, many more tourists dine while visiting Bergen and the historic surroundings of Bryggen.
In the 1970s, the restaurant was extended to also include the 1st floor ,and Bryggeloftet was established. Here, guests enjoy beautiful views facing the harbor and parts of the fish market. In 1999, Bryggeloftet, had even further expansion, and can today seat up to 185 guests. The interior and layout design with both smaller and larger rooms, makes
Bryggeloftet a perfect place for larger parties with companies, Lutefisk gatherings, confirmations, birthday parties and other special celebrations. Bryggeloftet & Stuene is a traditional local Bergen restaurant, with a distinctive atmosphere that attracts many regular guests.
Our restaurant has a large and varied menu with several fish and game dishes, based on the traditional Norwegian cuisine. We also serve the traditional Bergen Fish Soup. Popular amongst locals as well as visitors.
Every Thursday afternoon (except during holiday season)the traditional Salt meat and ”Raspe balls” are the course of the day. Throughout decades, this dish has become a local classic. Here, you can also enjoy the famous Lutefisk (when in season), a long standing tradition for many guests.
