The traditional Bygdin Mountain Hotel is run by the Oxhovd/Svalesen family. The family's dream is to carry on the good hotel traditions. Located at the foot of Jotunheimen, you can feel the positive atmosphere and enjoy everything nature can provide in all directions. This is the place for hiking boots, ski boots, dress-up shoes and our four legged friends. We can arrange wedding celebrations, parties and company events.
Many popular hikes start from our front door, hikes marked by the Norwegian Trekking Assosciation (DNT) and 2000 meter peaks. The Bygdin Mountain Hotel is a popular starting point for people who like to have direct access to the mountains, need a place to sleep, as well as good meal. The most well-known hikes in our area are: Besseggen, Bitihorn, Svartdalen and Synshorn. Righ next to the hotel is the pear where the the more than 100-year old M/B Bitihorn operates between Bygdin, the DNT cabin Torfinnsbu and all the way to Eidsbugarden. We are also located right along the Mjølkevegen cycling route that connects the Gudbrandsdalen, Valdres and Hallingdal regions.
Around the hotel, you can access many cross-country trails that are connected to the Beitostølen trail network. For a more wilderness experience, you can use the marked routes towards Torfinnsbu and Yksendalsbu. Valdresflya, not far from Bygdin, is usually the first area in the season for cross-country on natural snow.
