A great canoeing trip with Kalvhella as your starting point. Kalvhella is a popular bathing area with a sandy beach in scenic surroundings. There are changing facilities, toilets and barrel grills available. It's a great place to spend the day both before and after canoeing. On Saturdays, the local welfare association has an open café nearby.

The canoes are available right by the water, and from Kalvhella you can paddle out to Ramsholmen, a small island just a stone's throw from Kalvhella. It takes about 30-45 minutes to paddle to the island, where you'll also find a small sandy beach and rocks for you to frolic on. It's also a great place to pitch a tent or hammock and spend the night. Prepared campfire site and outhouse.

There is an abundance of birdlife around the island and on Storsjøen in general, so paddling around the island into the coves can be an experience in itself. It's also a good idea to try your luck at fishing, and rumour has it that big fish can be caught!

Want to go fishing in Storsjøen?

This is a great, child-friendly paddling trip, but if you want to paddle further, there are plenty of opportunities for this too. You can paddle on to several of Storsjøen's beautiful islands. The closest is Rovøya or Engeholmen. You can also head over to Bukkeneset, which is also a popular swimming spot, where they also have their own summer kiosk. On Svartholmen, which is also an island in this direction, there are free-range goats grazing in summer 2025. The opportunities for fantastic nature experiences are many!

If you would like to spend the night in a pre-erected floating tent on Ramsholmen, you can submit a request for this.
